Frequently Asked Questions
Hardwood timber floors are durable and long-lasting (majority last for decades) and they are easy to clean. They have the beauty of natural materials with natural colour variations and patterns.
Due to aging, most hardwood floors will fade over time. This is mainly due to sunlight exposure so we recommend the use of rugs on direct sunlight areas and or to use blinds to redirect the sunlight so that your floors have a longer lifetime.
We do not recommend laying oak floorboards in bathrooms due to the high risk of spillage.
Just like other wood products, oak floorboards are subject to the phenomenon of expansion and shrinking in response to climatic changes. Extreme environmental conditions, meaning exposure to extreme heat, moisture, or dryness (more than 65%, less than 35% R.H) can cause timber floorboards to shrink. When humidity levels are higher, oak timber flooring can expand. With proper acclimation, installation, and maintenance, expansion and shrinkage of your oak timber floors will be less noticeable.
Yes! Bacteria, dust and dirt do not embed themselves in oak timber flooring as they do in other flooring options…we are looking at you, carpet. Simple regular maintenance, such as dust mopping, sweeping or vacuuming keeps oak floors sanitary.
